I had selected this photo to share with you for Wordless Wednesday and was just about to hit publish when I received notification of the theme for the weekly photo challenge: unlikely. Well, how perfect.
In the grand scheme of things, an odd-colored tulip is that not unusual. Go to any tulip field and you’ll see them here or there. But, it’s an eye-catching photographic opportunity and sure feels unlikely when captured.

Welcome to Tales from the Upper Left! I’m an Oregonian by birth, and a Washingtonian (upper left...get it?) by choice. I share my life with a husband named Jonathan and a cat named Colby Jack (he’s orange...like cheese). I dabble in photography (passionate hobbyist), hike when the opportunity arises, drink wine whenever the mood strikes me and travel not often enough. Predictable Washington blog? Nah. I promise! This is just perfect! I drove by the field again today. Didn’t stop. Had an appointment with a trail.

I love the odd flower that refuses to conform or shows up unexpected, planted by a bird or other small animal. Fun!

I love it when the planets align and you get a twofer for a photo challenge. Gorgeous pic and amazing pop of red in the sea of yellow!
