Happy New Year! We started out the new year right, with a beautiful, snow-filled hike. As we were headed to the trail I noted that the weekly photo challenge was circle and made it my mission to fulfill the challenge while out on the trail. We hiked to a mountain lake, and envisioned catching bubbles of trapped water along the shore. Instead, as we reached the view point I was met with unexpected circles. I suspect that some were caused by wind rippling the surface of the lake while it froze. Others may have been caused by rocks being chucked onto the thin ice. I’ll share full details (and pictures) of the hike within the next day or so. But, for now, circles:

Weekly Photo Challenge: Circle

Welcome to Tales from the Upper Left! I’m an Oregonian by birth, and a Washingtonian (upper left...get it?) by choice. I share my life with a husband named Jonathan and a cat named Colby Jack (he’s orange...like cheese). I dabble in photography (passionate hobbyist), hike when the opportunity arises, drink wine whenever the mood strikes me and travel not often enough. Predictable Washington blog? Nah. I promise!
