This week’s challenge is a bit…obscure. Against the odds. The premise? A hard-won Scrabble game with an accompanying photo of the scorecard. Like I said..obscure.
The challenge? Post a photo that says “against the odds.” An unlikely event. A shot I never thought I’d get. Something I thought I could never do.
Hmmh.
Well.
Whuh?
I usually try to meet the weekly challenge with photos taken over the last week or two. None of them scream, “Unlikely event!!” And, I’m not to go bungee jumping or anything like that this weekend just to fulfill a photo challenge.
Then I had an epiphany. Isn’t every photograph kind of an unlikely event? Think about it. I’m not just blowing smoke up your skirt in an attempt to manipulate the weekly challenge. Can a photo ever be perfectly replicated? Nope. Light is different, planets are aligned differently, nature is different. Following me?
It’s kind of cool, if you think about it. One could consider every photo they take as an unlikely event because that moment will never happen exactly the same again.
My favorite unlikely event from this week was actually a photo I posted on Wednesday. Check it out here.
My second favorite unlikely event was taken last weekend at a local park. We had some snow here last week followed by a lot of rain. As a result, the Deschutes River was raging. I took photos of it in its natural state and then pulled out the tripod and neutral density filter to knock down the light and turn that water smooth and silky. I was lucky enough to capture a bit of the sun at the same time.
Ta-da! Against the odds!
Impossible odds set the stage for amazing photos! 🙂
Wishing you a wonderful Sunday,
Dina
