Weekly Photo Challenge: Place in the World

This week we were invited to explore what it means to find our place in the world.  I think yesterday’s experience pretty much sums up where the world resonates most in my heart…outside.

I’m in Wenatchee, WA the next couple of days for a conference.  I drove over yesterday afternoon, arriving around 3 pm.  It was a beautiful day…sunny and 73.  I had already scoped out a little leg stretcher, so I quickly checked into my room and then headed into the hills above Wenatchee to the Sage Hills trail head.  I had heard rumors of wildflowers and wasn’t disappointed.

Did I mention that it was an exquisitely beautiful afternoon?

This (gesturing broadly at the outdoor world in general) is where I can breath.  I work in an office 40 hours a week.  At a desk or in meetings.  I breath in the outdoor air first thing in the morning and then not again until late afternoon.  Most weekends I seek some element of outside…even if it’s just wandering around the yard with my macro lens.  But, ideally, that “outside” will include a walk or a hike or a wander.  My place in the world…my peace…my muse…is outside…be it on the shores of Puget Sound in Olympia or the hills above Wenatchee.
