What’s more prolific than grains of sand on a beach? How about grains of sea glass on a beach? I took this photo at Glass Beach on Kauai last week. The land just north of the beach was used as a dump for years. Lots of glass. Over time, the land has eroded, glass bottles, plates and who knows what else have broken into the sea and the ocean has done it’s work. It’s unusual, and strangely beautiful.

Welcome to Tales from the Upper Left! I’m an Oregonian by birth, and a Washingtonian (upper left...get it?) by choice. I share my life with a husband named Jonathan and a cat named Colby Jack (he’s orange...like cheese). I dabble in photography (passionate hobbyist), hike when the opportunity arises, drink wine whenever the mood strikes me and travel not often enough. Predictable Washington blog? Nah. I promise!
