As I write this I am sitting in front of the Christmas tree in the darkened living room sipping a peppermint martini. I should be cooking dinner. I should be frosting cookies. But, I am not.
I’ve had a headache for almost a week. Not debilitating. Just there. Enough to make me cranky. It started around last Thursday, backed off over the weekend and returned on Monday, which was a good indicator that it’s stress-related. There’s been a lot going on in the office lately.
Late this afternoon I went to my massage therapist and had her dig around in my neck for an hour. It hurt like a mother, but the headache had backed off some by the time I left her office.
Rather than launching myself into an evening of busy when I got home I mixed cocktail eleven, pulled up a patch of floor and here I am. I’ve now moved from sitting to laying. The husband is at the gym, the noisy cat is outside, it’s just you, me, a martini, four ibuprofen, and a Christmas tree. There are worse things.
Peppermint Martini
1 1/2 oz vodka
2 oz peppermint schnapps
Shake vigorously in a shaker filled with ice. Serves one.
