A 70th Anniversary

Some posts don’t require a lot of words.  I was going to try to write a lot of words.  But, it turns out I don’t have a lot of words to say.  How does one express a love that is so wide, so deep and so long that it’s indescribable?  So is my love for my grandparents.

I shared their history last summer when they were Grand Marshals in the Toledo Summer Festival parade.  Today…January 16, 2017…is their 70th wedding anniversary.  I get teary-eyed just thinking about it.  70 years.  How is that for a legacy?

On Saturday family and friends gathered at the Toledo Elks Club (because where else would such a celebration take place?) to celebrate with Grandpa and Grandma.  We numbered 75 or so.  Maybe 80.  Maybe 65.  I don’t know.  There were a bunch of us.  We drank (because what else would we do?), we laughed, we ate.  We did what our family does naturally and best…we gathered.  And we celebrated the centers of our universe.
