I was in a training class for two days last week, which is always a nice change of pace. An extravagance attached to this off-site class was hour long lunch breaks in a very walkable area. And the sun was shining.
Did you catch that?
The. Sun. Was. Shining.
Actually, the sun has been shining all week. Not only that, it has shined through the weekend (thus far). That’s heady stuff, folks! That’s hiking weather, folks! Too bad hiking was not on the weekend schedule. Sigh. But, the flower beds desperately (desperately. As in, “Can’t see the forest (plants) for the weeds,” needed weeded (they do look really good).
The husband is also still working on cutting and clearing the four large silver firs we had taken down a few weeks ago. Sigh. Grown up stuff again interfered with the stuff I want to do.
I’ve gotten off topic.
I took advantage of the extended lunch breaks offered during the previously mentioned training class and took walks (with camera, of course). I also walked one evening after class was over. It was lovely.
As I left the house on the second day of class I grabbed my new sandals. You remember me agonizing over those sandals a few weeks ago? I settled on a pair, but haven’t had an opportunity to test-drive them due to all of the lovely spring rain. This was my first opportunity to strap them on and see how things felt. Remember, my ideal is to take two (2!) pairs of shoes to the Caribbean–sandals and flip flops.
The verdict? I’m cautiously optimistic. I walked a mile and a half that first day. They are about the lightest weight sandals I have ever worn. Almost disconcertingly so. They were a little loose in a couple of spots, but nothing rubbed during the walk. And, my feet will undoubtedly swell in the heat. I kept them on for the rest of the afternoon and developed one “hot spot” later in the day, but I slapped a band-aid on it and all was well. I also wore them a lot over the weekend, even getting them soaked in wet grass. I think they’ll work. I think.
Ugh.
I think.
Anywho, that’s that…just wanted to share the luxury of long lunch breaks and walks. And sunshine. In Western Washington. Whoot-whoot!!
oh those yellow flowers! WOW! 🙂

Beautiful photos! Wasn’t it gorgeous this weekend? Love it when you can go outside without a jacket.

Thank you and, yes, it was gorgeous. And, yet…rain today. And the weather report says almost 80 on Thursday. Nothing like schizophrenic spring weather!
