I was going to take pictures of all of the cocktails I make this season and post the sum-total of all of them in late December, but that would suck for you if you wanted to make one of these festive delights during the holiday season. Was that a run-on sentence? Maybe because I’ve already had one of this evening’s cocktails. A little delight called Santa’s Helper.
We stocked up on Christmas-y boozes when in Oregon for Thanksgiving. The land of no tax. What’s a Christmas-y booze? Sticky sweet yummies like amaretto, peppermint schnapps and Irish Cream. To join things already in the cupboard like creme de cocoa, vanilla vodka and butterscotch schnapps.
In a word? Mmmmmmm.
Here is the recipe for Santa’s Helper:
1 oz vanilla vodka
1/2 oz amaretto
3 oz cranberry juice
Dump it into a shaker with ice. Grab yourself a pretty martini glass. Drop a marashino cherry in the bottom of the glass. Pour.
I’ll be Santa’s Helper any ol’ time!
Well…this one is bookmarked 🙂

I’ve not come across vanilla vodka (sheltered life 🙂 ) but I do have some amaretto in the cupboard. It’s a little too sweet on its own. Thinks!…..
Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you, too! I’m admitting to being sheltered, too, as I’m unfamiliar with liquor offerings in your corner of the world. Flavored vodkas are extraordinarily common here….perhaps too common because now we’re faced with flavors like cookie dough, cotton candy and red licorice (I kid you not).
