Last Sunday afternoon the husband and I headed to Tacoma. Our destination? First, happy hour at Duke’s on Ruston Way. We sat on the patio enjoying cocktails, good food and the view (hazy due to smoke from the fires consuming the great state of Washington). After a leisurely time there we headed to Point Defiance Park to visit their dahlia garden. They have much more than just dahlias (there roses are stunning), but dahlias happen to be a personal favorite of mine. Thanks to Peggy over at Northwestphotos–she posted about the dahlia garden last week, which inspired my visit. The husband wandered around and then kicked back on a bench while I crouched, stood on tiptoes and generally contorted myself taking pictures of too many varieties to count. The pictures speak for themselves:

Stunning flowers! So beautiful I really want to plant some in my mum’s garden now 😉

You should! The beauty of dahlias (in addition to the obvious) are that they’re so easy!
