It’s FRIDAY! Time for the weekly photo challenge! This week we were asked to interpret ROY G. BIV, an acronym intended to help us remember the first letters of the seven colors of a rainbow: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. We were invited to post a picture of a rainbow, a picture that contains all of the colors of a rainbow, or submit a multi-picture gallery with one image for each color.
I decided to be an overachiever. First, here’s your rainbow:
This picture was taken on a hike up on Hood Canal just a couple of days after Christmas. I had lost my best feline friend shortly before Christmas, making the holiday rough. December 27th dawned bright and clear, so we decided a hike might help clear our heads and unburden our heavy hearts. As we walked through the trees conditions meshed perfectly and we were treated to the above rainbow. We stood in awe…and I whispered to my husband, “Do you think it’s Booboo?” (her nickname) It made me cry…but it also warmed my heart.
I also decided to do a multi-picture gallery. When I first read the challenge I began culling through my photography archives in my mind, seeking out perfect photos for each color. But, it’s June. And things (flowers) are blooming here in Western Washington. And it’s sunny today. And I have a new camera. So, rather than go with what I had I chose to hit the yard when I got home and create a multi-gallery in real-time. I also decided to take it one step further and attempt variations on a theme, in this instance flowers. Oh, how I wished I had just tapped the archives. Where are the blue poppies when you need them? Not in my yard! I’m a bit of a purest, so I feel that I struck out on the blue. Sure, there were flowers I could have tried to call blue, but it would have been a stretch. Thus, my complete theme was foiled. Nonetheless, here is my rainbow:
Red:
Blue (which one of these things is not like the others….):
Indigo:
Violet:
Until next week!
Hi LaNae
Just saw your post on the Commons for Blogging 101 and came over to check it out. Awesome rainbow. I don’t care if it’s a little blurry. And sorry there are no blue flowers out. This is my first visit to your blog. Really like your tag line, and also the fact that I get a little bio at the end of your post. How’d you do that?

Thanks, Reagan! There’s actually a widget that allows you to add the little author blurb, but I can’t remember which one off the top of my head and searching via smart phone is proving difficult. I’ll get back to you!

That may be the prettiest rainbow I’ve seen in the challenge so far. (And I’ve seen a lot of them.)
