This week’s photo challenge invited us to share our images depicting the theme “afloat.” I started scrolling through pictures and came across this beauty. Last fall the husband and I took a trip to LaPush and Forks, WA. It was amazing. The weather was a bit hit or miss, which we expected. But, the best part was that the area was empty. Quiet. Positively desolate.
We got up one morning and headed to Second Beach, which is where this picture was taken. We were dodging rain showers and the cloud play, sun play, rain play made for exquisite light.
It was very….ethereal. Depending upon the reflections you sometimes felt as if you were floating on cloud, other times on water. Wish I was there right now…

Welcome to Tales from the Upper Left! I’m an Oregonian by birth, and a Washingtonian (upper left...get it?) by choice. I share my life with a husband named Jonathan and a cat named Colby Jack (he’s orange...like cheese). I dabble in photography (passionate hobbyist), hike when the opportunity arises, drink wine whenever the mood strikes me and travel not often enough. Predictable Washington blog? Nah. I promise! Thank you very much! It’s one of my favorites from that trip (and I took a LOT of pictures).
