Remember that part of the reason why I started this little venture was because of a list that I’ve put together of things that I’ve not cooked but want to cook. If you’ve forgotten, take a look here. As far as I’m concerned, the list is incomplete and will remain a work in progress, but I think I need to get it published because I’m likely going to cross something off of it this weekend. And I want credit for that! 🙂
This feels like a natural progression to my cooking life. The husband and I eat out around one night a week. The rest of the week I cook for us. During the week the meals are easy, usually coming together in 30 minutes or less. The weekends are when I spread my wings a bit. Sometimes the wing spreading is limited by time. Sometimes by laziness. And, as noted in that previous blog, sometimes by intimidation. I will be intimidated no more! And I promise that if I try something and it is a complete and utter flop that I will ‘fess up. Not only will I ‘fess up, I will keep it on the list to retry at a later time.
The list. Here’s what’s on it as of today:
Sweet
- Cream puffs
- Tiramisu
- Key lime tart using real key lime
- Meyer lemon tart or bar using real Meyer lemon
- Creme brulee
- Jelly Roll
- Yule Log
- Crepes
Savory
- Eggplant parmesan with homemade pasta and homemade marinara
Risotto- Beer can chicken
- Homemade papardelle with shredded beef ragu
- Gnocchi
Ravioli- Chili verde
- Stuffed flank steak
- French onion soup
- Omelette
- Crepes
- Pad Thai
How about you? What’s on your list of “things to cook”? Or, what have you avoided cooking because you’ve felt it’s too hard or too time consuming? And, any favorite recipes to share for items on my list?
